Individual Premium is the appropriate one-person comparison; a cheaper-looking team price can require two seats. Inspect advanced AI limits before upgrading. Privacy: where the audio and text go
Fathom separates third-party training from possible training of its own models on de-identified content, with an opt-out in settings. That is different from Fireflies and tl;dv’s published no-training positions. Granola’s audio policy also differs from a stored audio/video library. Dictaria avoids a cloud playback archive, but saves account text and sends relevant context to cloud AI when you use Coach.
Bot-free capture does not guarantee local processing. Likewise, a no-training promise does not mean meeting content is never stored. These rows describe published policies, not an independent security audit.

When to keep Fathom
Fathom’s current updates include live summaries, account-wide Ask Fathom, bot-free capture, and MCP connectivity. Availability and lookback can depend on the feature, platform, and plan. Keep Fathom if its capture and follow-up experience already saves you time. A replacement should address a specific gap, such as how you ask for help during a difficult moment, rather than duplicate a recap you already like.
Separate remembering from participating
Consider a negotiation with an unresolved dependency. Afterward, you need an accurate record of the discussion. During it, you might need to understand the dependency or ask who owns it. Test both moments. Do not score an assistant only by the elegance of its finished document when the feature you want is help before the call ends.
